Founded by Artistic Director Marilo Nunez in 2006, Alameda Theatre Company, was formed as a response to the lack of quality, professional Latin Canadian theatre in Toronto. An avenue for Latin voices, Alameda Theatre Company aims to become a viable artistic network of professional Latin Canadian theatre artists in Canada. Inspired by the words of Salvador Allende, "You must continue to know that, sooner rather than later, grand avenues will be opened where free men will go to build a better society", Alameda Theatre Company's goal is to improve the human experience through art and creative exchange.

Marilo Nunez's former company, 4 Devils Productions, produced Chile Con Carne, Carmen Aguirre's poignant one-woman show in 1999. Directed by Governor General Award Winner Guillermo Verdecchia, the production garnered rave reviews by the media and theatre community alike.

In 2001, 4 Devils Productions produced North East Side Story, written by Marilo Nunez and Shawne Mckeown, for the SummerWorks Theatre Festival.

4 Devils Productions then went on to produce the critically acclaimed short documentary, Things My Parents Taught Me: Ode to the Empanada, written by Marilo Nunez & Peter Riddihough and directed by Peter Riddihough. The film was selected for the 2003 5th Alucine Latin Film and Video Festival, the 11th Chilean Short Film Festival and the Salvador Allende Arts Festival for Peace.
